Split expenses without taking anyone’s word forit

Tacca works out who owes what to whom, and shows you where every number comes from — line by line, down to the cent that would not divide. Works without a connection, and without limits.

Tacca is not on the app stores yet. This site describes the app we are building.

Free, no limits. iPhone and Android. Works offline too.

The difference

Other apps calculate well and explain badly

They tell you that you owe £71.73 and stop there. If the number looks wrong, all you can do is scroll the list of expenses and redo the maths in your head — which is exactly what the app was supposed to spare you.

HOW MUCH YOU PUT IN

Write what and how much. The rest is already sorted.

Two fields. Payer, split and date are already right, and the category is suggested as you type.

WHEN SOMEONE PAYS YOU BACK

A repayment is confirmed by whoever receives it

The signature comes from whoever cashes it, and the server enforces that. Until they sign, it stays written down.

The name

A tally is proof, not a reminder

Long before ledgers there was the tally stick: a piece of wood notched once for every debt, then split lengthwise in two. Each party kept one half.

Tacca is that object, on your phone. It does not ask you to trust its arithmetic: it opens it for you.

Features

Everything you need to split a bill. Nothing else.

No daily limits, no feature held hostage: what you see here is there from first launch and costs nothing.

One code, and your groups follow you

No passwords: a six-digit code by email and you are in. From then on your groups are safe beyond the phone — lose it or replace it, and you find them all exactly where they were.

Four ways to split

Equal shares, exact amounts, percentages or weighted shares — and writing one figure on one row is enough for the rest to re-split on its own. Several payers on the same expense, and discounts and cover charges that enter the total with the right sign by construction.

Every number opens up

Tap a balance and see the whole chain: total, adjustments, shares, who took the leftover cent, the frozen exchange rate and the final subtraction. It is not a help screen: it is the real calculation, redone on the spot.

Mixed currencies, frozen rate

An expense in francs inside a euro group stays in francs in the ledger. The rate is fixed on the date of the expense and never moves again: if the market shifts tomorrow, yesterday’s bill does not rewrite itself.

People join with a QR code

Whoever joins later does not start from zero: the code carries their seat in the group, so balances entered before they arrived count for them immediately. The code contains no data, expires after seven days and can be revoked.

Where the money went

Charts across all of your expenses, not just one group: by activity, by category, by month — always with your own share next to the total, which is the number you actually care about.

You pay with your own app

Satispay, Revolut, PayPal, an IBAN to copy. Tacca hands you over to your payment app with the amount already filled in, then gets out of the way: it never moves money, never touches it and never holds it.

Your groups, not just this phone

Syncing is per account: as soon as there is a connection every group of yours is copied to the server, including the ones you never shared. That is what gives them back to you if the phone breaks — and what other people read is still only the group they belong to.

Photographed receipts

Coming

Photograph the receipt, the app reads the lines, and you tap the ones that are yours. It is the most powerful mode of the engine and the one nobody uses, because typing fourteen lines is unbearable.

Recurring expenses

Coming

Rent and bills that come back every month without retyping them. Export, on the other hand, is already here: a group’s account comes out as CSV, and the statistics as PDF.

Offline

Works the same on a plane

Your phone does the maths. When the connection comes back, it syncs on its own.

Your data

What we collect, and what we don’t

  • No telemetry, no analytics service, no crash reporter shipping data elsewhere.
  • No advertising, no profiling, no selling data to anyone.
  • No server-side computation: your phone does the maths, even on a plane.
  • Synced data sits on servers in the European Union, and you can delete it whenever you want.
  • Tacca never moves money: it has no access to your accounts and is not a payment service.

What it costs

Free

Forever, and with no limits.

That is not a marketing choice, it is a real difference in cost: one user’s text data weighs about 200 KB a year, receipt photos about 40 MB. Two hundred times as much. The line goes exactly there.

  • Unlimited groups and expenses
  • All four ways to split
  • The full derivation of every amount
  • Works offline, syncs by itself
  • Your groups on every phone you own
  • Statistics and charts across all expenses
  • Receipt photos stay on your phone
  • A group’s account exportable as CSV, the statistics as PDF

The thing that makes Tacca different — splitting a photographed receipt line by line — **stays free**. It is the reason you would install this app instead of another one: putting it behind a paywall would mean showing it to nobody.

If you want the details

Questions we get asked

How do I get someone into a group?

You show them a QR code. The normal form is per person: the code carries one specific seat, so whoever scans it becomes Giulia and the balances already entered count for them from the first instant — nothing has to be redone by hand.

What happens to the cent that will not divide?

It gets assigned, and you are told to whom. Splitting € 34.15 four ways would need € 8.5375 each, but cents are whole: three cents are left over and someone has to pay them.

Can I use it for an expense between two people?

Yes. Inside Tacca a two-person split is a group like any other, just presented differently: same balances, same derivation, same settle-up.

Does it work offline?

Yes, completely. The data lives in a database inside the app and the phone does the maths: on a plane, in the mountains or out of data, Tacca behaves identically and just as fast.

Can I split an expense in a different currency?

Yes. The expense stays recorded in its own currency and the rate is frozen on the date it happened, with the source and the timestamp written into the derivation.

Does Tacca handle payments?

Never. Tacca works out what you owe and to whom, then takes you to your own payment app with the amount already filled in: Satispay, Revolut, PayPal, or an IBAN to copy.

Where does my data end up?

On this phone, and on servers in the European Union: your email address and the data of all your groups, not only the shared ones. Syncing is per account, not per group, and there is no switch to keep one out.

Do you sell my data or show ads?

No, and the reason you can believe it is not that we write it down: it is that the code to do it does not exist. There is no advertising SDK in the app and no integration with third-party networks.
