Tacca is written by one person, and this page exists so you know which one.
My name is Andrea Furlani. Tacca came out of a weekend in Bolzano, four of us, a bill to split, and an app that told me *"you owe €105.89"* without telling me where that number came from. The total was right. The problem was that I had to take its word for it.
Expense-splitting apps do the maths well: that is the easy part, and it is arithmetic. What none of them did was show the working — open an amount and lay out the shares, the advances, the cent that would not divide and who ended up with it. This is not a bookkeeper's detail: it is the difference between a number you accept and a number you can check. Between friends, that difference is everything.
So I started writing it. This is not the work of a company with a team: it is one person who had a problem specific enough that nothing off the shelf solved it, and was stubborn enough to build the thing. I write the code, I make the calls, and when something does not add up I am the one who answers — at the same address you will find on the contact page.
Tacca is not on the stores yet. This site describes an app still being built, and says so on every page rather than letting you find out afterwards. When it comes out you will hear it here, or in a single email if you left an address.
This is not a launch promotion. Tacca holds text — expenses, names, amounts — and text weighs almost nothing: a year-old group fits in a few hundred kilobytes. There is no cost that grows with you, so there is nothing to charge you for later.
The two go together: advertising is paid for with the data of the people who watch it. Your expenses say where you go, with whom, how much you spend and on what — precisely the kind of information that has a price, and precisely why it does not leave your phone.
The maths happens on the phone, not on a server. Up a mountain, on a plane, or abroad with no data, you keep logging expenses and keep seeing the right balances: when the network comes back, it syncs. A travel app that demands a connection is an app that abandons you while travelling.
This is the reason Tacca exists. No amount appears without its derivation: tap a balance and you see the calculation, line by line, down to the cent that would not divide. You can redo it by hand and it has to match — if it does not, that is my mistake and I want to know.
